Firebrand’s second “A Play, a Pie and a Pint” in association with Oran Mor and Heart of Hawick, saw Janet Coulson and Alan Steele in great form in David Harrower’s humorous, yet emotionally powerful story of a store detective’s pursuit of a young woman who fantasises about stealing a glamorous green dress.

Staged in and amongst the audience as they enjoyed their Dark Horse ale courtesy of the Scottish Borders Brewery, and featuring the voice of Kenny Blyth as the unseen Security Supervisor, the four evening and lunchtime performances drew large houses and an enthusiastic response on Facebook and Twitter both to the quality of the writing and the invention and immediacy of the presentation.  The homemade pies proved very popular too!

What the audience thought:

“Congratulations to Firebrand on another triumph. An awesome performance, astutely directed and creatively produced. Well done to all” Jim Ferguson, Edinburgh

“Excellent performance @Heart of Hawick with Firebrand Theatre Company of David Harrower's 43% Acrylic. Pies from @Buccleuch Arms Hotel mighty fine too.” Jules Horne, Kelso

“Really enjoyed @FirebrandTheatr pie and a pint tonight…pie delicious…beer fab…play riveting.”   Fiona Drane, St Boswells

“Absolutely gripping from start to finish with brilliant performances and superbly staged.” Sara Clarke, Hawick
